It's all too easy for new drummers to set up an electric kit in a way that is a) totally unsuitable for their size/height, and b) nothing at all like an acoustic kit - as a drum tutor I've seen some real shockers in my time!
With years of experience as a drum teacher, I often help pupils get their new kits set up ergonomically for them - perfectly spaced, and arranged to exactly resemble a proper acoustic kit.
This is essential to practice with correct technique, avoid potential injuries, and means switching between playing at home and during drum lessons in the studio feels natural.
